This is the largest project taken up by the government after the formation of Telangana. The objective of the project is to divert 2 TMC of water every day for 90 days making it to 180 TMC. By taking the future in perspective, the project is built to carry 3 TMC of water every day.
In addition to the existing segments of Kaleswaram project, MEIL was entrusted with the execution of Medigadda, Annaram, & Sundilla segments. These are some of the new and redesigned segments of the Kaleswaram project. The management has engaged multiple teams, comprising of engineers and thousands of manual workers, to execute these works parallely on a 24x7 basis. The target is to complete all works by the kharif season of 2018. MEIL's scope in these segments involves the construction of pump houses, pressure mains, delivery cisterns, approach channels, gravity canals, allied electro-mechanical & hydro-mechanical works, head regulators (to lift 160 TMC of water), and three 220/11 kV substations.
